Lian Bemrose will be responsible for developing OTD’s approach to lifelong learning, and supporting its team in meeting regulatory and ethical requirements.
She takes up the new position having first joined OTD’s sister business as an operational support manager, more than three years ago, and was most recently office manager for the business.
Lian, who has extensive experience in learning and compliance, said that the role was a natural progression for her and OTD.
The appointment comes at a time when the business is embarking upon new projects in IT security and GDPR, as well as seeking City & Guilds accreditation for its coaching and training programmes. OTD is also continuing its commitment to EDI and mental health training and awareness.
She said: “I’m really excited to take on the challenge of being OTD’s first ever culture and compliance manager. This is a highly collaborative role, rooted in practising what we preach as a values-led business. It will see me work with colleagues in all facets of the company, leading our focus on learning and development, and championing strategic initiatives based on maintaining high levels of compliance.
“We’ll be assessing the effectiveness of the systems and tools we’re using, rolling out individual development plans and continuing the excellent conversations we’ve already been having on mental health and personal wellbeing.”
Rebecca Farnworth, head of operations at OTD, said: “Lian understands our business, people and values, and is the perfect fit for this new position. One of OTD’s primary goals is to promote learning and development, and an intentional team culture around compliance, where people welcome and understand its benefits. This role will be dedicated to making it happen.”
